grit

i'm not that smart i think.

i mean it's true that i know that i'm smart because i test very well and so forth, even when compared to other kids that are quite smart themselves, but i might not be "that smart"... if you know what i mean.

but i think i have the kind of grit and endurance that it (sometimes) takes to succeed. anyway, i hope i do.

P.U.R.E. B.S.

people are afraid to make statements like "different races have different average IQs" because this would force them to draw all sorts of racist conclusions.

although i think denying the differences in the average IQs of various racial groups is another type of B.S. (B.S. of the P.C. subtype), I think that acknowledging racial differences does not force one to draw racist conclusions...

why?

1. well, smart people naturally mate with other smart people, regardless of race.

2. people in general also look the same positive qualities in their mates' families as they look for in their mates (i.e. intelligence)

conclusion: smart people are more likely to mate with other smart people who's families exhibit a history of intelligence. this means groups with higher or lower IQs emerge within and between races.

i would venture a guess that a japanese person (with an IQ of 107) whose family's average IQ is 105 would be better off marrying a black person (with and IQ of 107) whose family's average IQ is 115 than he/she would be marrying another japanese person (with an IQ of 107) whose family average IQ is 100.

which brings me to the following conclusions:

1. you can't judge how smart a person is from his race. IQ bell curves are not really normal bell curves... they have fat tails, so there are more really smart and more really dumb people of every race than you would expect from a gaussian distribution. even though a population average iq is 85, that doesn't mean only 2 % of that population has an IQ of more than 115... because these distributions tend to have fat tails... so the curve is only gaussian when you look at "more average" IQs of the population (i'm not sure when the fat tail thing starts applying to higher IQs. At +2 standard deviations? or more standard deviations? but you get the point).

2. and you can't judge their families either: i'm assuming there are black families that have a legacy of harvard graduates (i've heard of a few).

THIS IS NOT TO EVEN ADDRESS the benefits of hybrid vigor to interracial matings.

if you want to consciously choose your partner so you would have smart kids... please... don't look at his/her race, look at his family history

thankful for the doubters

i like having people doubt me (my abilities, etc.). it makes success taste so much sweeter.

i didn't use to be like this, but lately my attitude has really changed.
